The graphic below will appear a bit different as it will have three additional fields; username, password, and email address. However, If you already have a wikispaces account, log in first before going to the page so you won't be prompted to create an account.
3. Once you're there, you need to choose a name. Keep it simple. If you're gong to title your site Mrs.Smith's Advanced Chemistry Class, shorten the URL name to something like 'smithadvchem'.
4. Now, make sure you select "private". Yes, this will prevent anyone who isn't a member from viewing your wiki, but we'll take care of that later. Right now you must select private to ensure you don't have ads later.
5. Certify that the space is for educational use.

Now once you're site it up, to change it from Private to Protected, which allows for viewers, but only registered members to see it, click on the 'Manage Space' link in the menu at the top left of your new wiki site. Next, scroll down and click on "Members and Permissions". You will see the table below, but yours will be marked "Private". Click on the "Protected" radio button and then click on "Update" to set your site so everyone can view it and you're finished unless you want to set up accounts for your students.
